Your senior portraits are one of the most important photographs you’ll have taken. For the session to go smoothly here are a few suggestions.
- Choose your favorite outfits and let your parents pick one too. Solid colors are best. Three to five complete outfits are typical for high school seniors. Vary the style and colors of your outfits: dressy, casual, jeans, and sports uniforms for example.
- For outdoor sessions, most outdoor locations do not have places for you to change. Changes in the car may be needed. If you choose a layered style, you can easily add or remove a piece for a different look without having to change.
Feel free to bring along any props that show what makes you – YOU! Football, baseball, volleyball, dance, musical instruments, etc.
Makeup should be slightly heavier than normal daily wear. Avoid sparkly make up and use fresh mascara to avoid clumps. Bring extra make up with you in case you need to add a bit of powder to keep shine down.
Avoid getting a new haircut before your session. If needed, have your hair cut 1-2 weeks before your session to keep your hair looking natural and avoiding a tan line. If you want different looks, remember to bring styling tools and hair products with you.
Don’t overdo your tanning and avoid SUNBURNS. Red peeling skin does not photograph well and may not be re-touchable.
You can have a couple of shots with a boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend or sibling at no extra charge.
